Workplace Redundancy Middlesbrough

Redundancy

Redundancy is not restructuring or reorganisation. It has a specific definition.

If you have been employed for 2 years or more and are declared redundant, you have a right to a minimum redundancy payment calculated by reference to pay, age and length of service.

The courts have criticised employers who make employees apply for their own jobs or adopt too rigid an approach.

If your employer ‘goes bust’ and you are not paid, we can assist you to claim your entitlements.

If you are laid off for a certain length of time, you may have the right to claim a redundancy payment.

If your redundancy is ‘unfair’ or ‘discriminatory’ we can explain the position and advise you of your rights.

In one case, a primary school teacher we were advising was made redundant. However, it was proved to be victimisation.   She was awarded £1.6m. It can pay to get advice.
